The head of the Paris 2024 organizing committee has praised the operations of the Tokyo Games.
Tony Estanguet says athletes are well protected by strict anti-coronavirus measures and restrictions.
He said, “It is the demonstration that this is possible to adopt such a difficult context and for us as the next host of the games. It was important again to learn all the protocols, measures put in place here.”
Estanguet said innovation at the Tokyo Games led to the inclusion of new sports, which added value to the Olympics.
He said, “We will also implement those sports in Paris 2024, because for us the richness of the games is based on the diversity of all those disciplines, events and urban sports, surfing, climbing. We’ll add breakdancing. Those sports will be a fantastic way also to connect youths to the Games.”
He said the Paris organizing committee strives for success at the Paris Games by uniting people and sports, and providing opportunities to enjoy sports at public events.
