Gohar Ejaz’s group delivered stunning clean sweep in annual elections of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA), defeating its rival group by 24-0 margin.
Asad Shafi has been elected as the Central Chairman of APTMA, while Siddiq Javed Bhatti secured the position of Chairman APTMA North.
The sweeping victory marks another major electoral success for the group led by APTMA Patron-in-Chief Dr Gohar Ejaz, who said the group had now achieved victory for the 17th time.
Ejaz highlighted critical role of Pakistan’s textile industry in the national economy, saying the sector contributes more than 60% of the country’s exports, making it one of the most important pillars of Pakistan’s export economy.
Ejaz further said Pakistan’s textile industry had played a key role in projecting the country’s image internationally, asserting that the sector had “raised Pakistan’s flag around the world.”
The latest landslide adds another chapter to a years-long electoral run that has established the Gohar Ejaz Group as the dominant force within the association. The group secured its 12th consecutive victory in 2021, followed by its 14th win in 2022 and 16th victory in 2024.
Gohar Ejaz served as APTMA’s Patron-in-Chief and Group Leader since 2011. He previously served as APTMA chairman in 2010-11. The group has consistently placed textile exports, competitive energy costs, industrial investment and expansion among its major priorities.
Ejaz’s influence also extends through the Ejaz Group of Companies, which includes Ejaz Spinning Mills and Ejaz Textile Mills. The group entered the textile business in 1990 and now employs more than 3,000 people.
