ABU DHABI – Japan and the United Arab Emirates agreed to cooperate on technology and climate change during Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s visit, his second stop in the region focused on securing energy supplies and promoting green technology.
Kishida met with Emirati President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Monday, during which they agreed to a new Japan-UAE innovation partnership, Japan’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The partnership would include a new program to accelerate energy security, as well as a framework for the UAE to cooperate with and invest in Japan on chip and battery technology, according to the statement issued late on Monday.
