Skipper David Warner led from the front with a blistering 86, while James Vince added a fluent 72. Khushdil Shah played a valuable cameo, scoring 43 runs, and veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi remained unbeaten on 26, taking Karachi Kings to an imposing total of 237 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs.
From the Zalmi bowling attack, Luke Wood claimed two wickets, while Ali Raza and Arif Yaqoob picked up one apiece.
The match was played in front of a packed stadium, with Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir in attendance. The occasion also featured a moving tribute to Pakistan’s armed forces, as players, officials, and fans united in expressing solidarity with the military. A moment of silence was observed to honor the martyrs, followed by the national anthem and a vibrant fireworks display.
In terms of tournament standings, Quetta Gladiators sit atop the points table and have already secured their place in the playoffs. Peshawar Zalmi, however, face a must-win situation, needing to clinch victories in both of their remaining matches to stay in contention. Karachi Kings and Islamabad United are tied at 10 points, while Lahore Qalandars are just behind with 9 points. Multan Sultans have been eliminated from the playoff race.
