TOKYO: The Pakistan Sports Writers Federation (PSWF) has strongly condemned the use of defamatory words against Pakistani sports journalists by Pakistan Cricket Board CEO Wasim Gulzar Khan in a television programme, calling it an organized conspiracy against sports journalists.
During the television programme, Khan said: “Journalists are corrupt. They want facilitation, they want tickets for coverage, they are puppets, why should I look after them?” To the sports journalists criticizing him, he added: “I have the nationality of the UK so I will not spare these people.”
In a statement, PSWF president Amjad Aziz Malik said that Wasim Khan’s logic was beyond comprehension and such statements are by no means appropriate for him to hold a responsible position.

Amjad Aziz Malik said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the patron of Pakistan Cricket Board Imran Khan had promised to give millions of jobs, but unfortunately the foreign nationals holding these jobs are sending millions of rupees abroad and that should be eradicated.
Wasim Khan, who is fighting for personal interests instead of keeping an eye on the performance of Pakistan cricket team, needs to explain why the game of cricket in the country has been ruined. Why was the voice of cricket organizers across the country silenced by restrictions on freedom of expression? How has club cricket been held hostage? Why has the Pakistan Cricket Board been made a domestic slave?
The President of Pakistan Sports Writers Federation said the PCB CEO has kept the Chairman PCB in the dark and a national damage has been done to the game of cricket in Pakistan. Chairman Accountability Bureau Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal should order an inquiry so that the nation can know what is going on in the cricket board, Malik said.
Amjad Aziz Malik has also demanded from Prime Minister Imran Khan that Wasim Gulzar Khan should be sacked. The Pakistan Sports Writers Federation has also demanded that the Chairman Senate and the Speaker National Assembly request for the details of income and expenditure of the Pakistan Cricket Board so that representatives of both Houses would know what is going on in the Pakistan Cricket Board. The Pakistan Sports Writers Federation has also demanded an apology from Wasim Khan and directed sports journalists to boycott activities of PCB and Wasim Khan.
