BISHKEK – Pakistan has assumed the chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) for 2026-27, the Foreign Office said.
According to the Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar met the SCO Secretary-General in Bishkek, who congratulated Pakistan on assuming the organisation’s chairmanship.
Dar briefed the SCO Secretary-General on Pakistan’s priorities and strategy for its chairmanship. The secretary-general expressed support for Pakistan’s priorities and assured full cooperation, the Foreign Office said.
The two sides also agreed to maintain close coordination and cooperation between Pakistan and the SCO Secretariat throughout Pakistan’s chairmanship.
Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch and Pakistan’s National Coordinator for the SCO, Mohammad Faisal, also attended the meeting.
The sides agreed to continue joint efforts to advance the organisation’s priorities during Pakistan’s tenure as SCO chair.
