In the Tokyo Olympic Games, Japan sealed another gold in the Aquatics Center, thanks to a comeback victory in the women’s 200-meters individual medley.
It’s Ohashi Yui’s second title after taking the 400-meters medley on Sunday.
Ohashi won it the hard way.
She was trailing back in fifth place after the butterfly leg, but caught up on the backstroke before touching first on the final leg.
Ohashi said she had expected a tight contest, but managed her race well to clinch the victory.
Alex Walsh and Kate Douglass, both from the US, took silver and bronze.
Australian Ariarne Titmus joined the Tokyo double-gold club, adding the women’s 200-meters freestyle to the 400-meters she won on Monday.
She finished fast to pip favorite Katie Ledecky of the US.
Hong Kong’s Siobhan Haughey took silver, with Canadian Penny Oleksiak in third.
And the baseball tournament got off to a dramatic start in Fukushima with Japan coming from behind to beat the Dominican Republic 4-to-3 in the ninth inning.
