Japan Minister Onoda Defines Japanese Culture as the Core of Foreigner Coexistence
Japan ( news) the Minister in charge of Foreigner Coexistence, emphasized that Japanese culture must remain the central pillar of a multicultural society. Speaking at a press conference, Onoda stated that while the government aims for inclusive policies, foreigners are expected to act as responsible members of Japanese society. Regarding the sensitive issue of establishing dedicated cemeteries for Islamic burials, the Minister refrained from a direct policy commitment, noting that burial laws fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
Minister Onoda also announced an upcoming diplomatic mission to India from May 3 to 6 to discuss economic security and AI strategy with local officials. Additionally, she addressed rising concerns over the misuse of advanced AI models, such as “Claude Mythos,” in cyberattacks, labeling cybersecurity a critical national priority. The government plans to strengthen inter-agency cooperation to monitor AI trends and protect national infrastructure from these evolving digital threats.
