CTV ( Japan ) Police in Fukuoka Prefecture have arrested five additional suspects believed to be connected to the Philippines-based Japanese crime syndicate known as “JP Dragon,” in a widening investigation into organized fraud and theft.
According to the Fukuoka Prefectural Police, the suspects are accused of playing roles in coordinated scam operations that targeted victims across Japan, including elderly individuals. Authorities say the group allegedly used sophisticated methods such as impersonation and financial deception to illegally obtain money.
Investigators believe the suspects were linked to operations managed from the Philippines, where Japanese crime groups have increasingly established bases to avoid domestic law enforcement while continuing fraudulent activities remotely.
This latest round of arrests is part of an ongoing crackdown on transnational crime networks. Police are continuing to analyze seized evidence and have not ruled out further arrests as they work to dismantle the broader organization behind JP Dragon.
Officials are also urging the public to remain vigilant against phone and online scams, which have been rising in recent years, often involving organized groups operating from overseas. Via : Japan times
