ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s civil and military leadership attended a ceremony at the Pakistan Monument to commemorate Marka-e-Haq (Battle of Truth), the title given by the state to the recent conflict with India.
The conflict, which began after the April 22 Pahalgam attack and concluded with the end of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos following a ceasefire between the two countries on May 10, has been officially designated as Marka-e-Haq.
Among those attending the ceremony were Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari, and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir. Also present were Chief of Naval Staff Naveed Ashraf and Chief of Air Staff Zaheer Ahmad Baber Sidhu.
The ceremony began with a march-past and the recitation of the Holy Quran. A planned fly-past was later cancelled due to bad weather, while patriotic songs were performed as part of the commemorative event.
