Japan( Tokyo)Japan’s defense minister says his country is sending its F-15 fighter jets to Britain, Germany and Canada starting on Sunday. It will be the first-ever dispatch of Air Self-Defense Force fighter jets to those countries.
Nakatani Gen said at a news conference on Friday that four F-15s belonging to the JASDF’s Chitose Air Base in the northern prefecture of Hokkaido will be dispatched to the three countries and the United States in a mission that will last until October 1.
He said the jets will fly with aerial refueling and transport aircraft.
The purpose is to deepen exchanges among defense personnel from other countries, including chances to observe each other’s aircraft. The Defense Ministry says joint drills are not scheduled during the visits.
Nakatani stressed that the dispatch will embody the common acknowledgement that the security of Europe and the Indo-Pacific is integral, indivisible and interlinked.
He added that he wants to further deepen cooperation among allies and like-minded countries through this dispatch.
