Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio spoke about his economic policy in an online presentation at the summit of Group of 20 nations in Rome.
Kishida was addressing the Global Economy and Global Health session at the summit on Saturday.
He said the basic philosophy of his economic policy is a “virtuous cycle of growth and distribution.” He said he aims to create a new form of capitalism in which individual income increases and everyone shares the benefits of economic growth.
He also welcomed a global minimum tax on multinational companies approved earlier by the G20 leaders. He said he will work on swift and steady implementation of what he calls a historic achievement.
He also said Japan will work on closing the urban-rural gap with his plan to digitalize rural areas.
On the global fight against the coronavirus, Kishida said Japan has decided to supply about 60 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines worldwide. He stressed the need for the G20 nations to work together to get vaccines to where they are needed.
