TOKYO, – The Jordanian flag flutters in the sky of Tokyo’s Olympic Stadium, with a unique opening ceremony for Tokyo Paralympic Games 2020 in its 16th edition, the event will continue from August 24 until September 5 with wide global participation from nearly 180 countries representing all continents.
After successfully finishing an extensive 3-week training camp in Turkey in preparation to participate in Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, the delegation is fully prepared for the upcoming competitions.
Nasser Al-Majali, Secretary-General of Jordan Olympic Committee (JOC), and HRH Prince Faisal bin Al-Hussein, President of JOC conveyed their warm greetings, best wishes in scoring medals in support of the delegations, through a telephone call that Al-Majali made with Maha Barghouti, Secretary-General of the Paralympic Committee and Head of the Mission.
Barghouti expressed that the great support from HRH Prince Faisal constitutes a great incentive for the Jordanian participants, who are looking forward with confidence and optimism to enhance the Jordanian presence in the Paralympic Games procession.
The mayor of the Olympic Village in Tokyo received in his office, Mr. Barghouti and the administrator, Mr. Daoud Shehadeh, where souvenirs were exchanged as a Paralympic tradition before the opening of the Games.
Jordan Paralympic Committee granted the honour of raising the Jordanian flag at the opening ceremony to Ahmed Hindi, a world record holder in athletics.
Hindi expressed his pride in this gesture stressing that it will give him great confidence in competing for a new world record and hopefully a first gold medal in his first Paralympic participation.
