Japan(Tokyo) Japan Tokyo officials confirmed 1,308 new cases of the coronavirus in the capital on Thursday, continuing a trend of some of the highest case counts in half a year.
The daily tally topped 1,000 for the second day in a row.
The figure has been increasing week on week for the past 26 days.
Tokyo is trying to stop the spread, with a fourth state of emergency.
The new measures will be in effect throughout the upcoming Olympics, before expiring on August 22.
