LAHORE – Punjab government issued stern warning to all public and private schools, directing them not to reopen institutions before August 24 and that all schools strictly comply with the officially announced summer vacation schedule.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat said no school, whether government-run or privately managed, is allowed to resume regular classes before the notified date. Rana urged school administrations to respect the government’s directives and ensure students receive the full duration of the summer break.
The minister stressed that the summer holidays are not merely a vacation period. According to him, the provincial government has dedicated one full month to remedial learning camps, aimed at helping students recover from learning loss and strengthen their academic foundation ahead of the new school term.
He said the initiative is designed to bridge educational gaps, improve classroom performance, and better prepare students for the upcoming academic session.
The minister appealed to school owners and administrators to fully cooperate with the government’s policy, warning against any premature reopening that could undermine the official academic calendar.
Parents and students have been advised to follow only the schedule announced by the Punjab government, with August 24 confirmed as the earliest date for schools across the province to reopen after the summer holidays.
The latest directive comes as many parents have been seeking clarity over the reopening schedule amid reports that some institutions were considering an early return to classes. The Punjab government has now made it clear that schools must remain closed until the officially notified date.
