ISLAMABAD – The federal cabinet has approved the deployment of three companies of the Pakistan Army in Rawalpindi for the period of six months.
The Ministry of Interior has issued a notification, stating that the decision has been taken under Article 245 of the Constitution at the request of the Punjab Home Department.
The notification states, “…the Federal Government, in exercise of the powers conferred under Article 245 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is pleased to authorize deployment of 3x companies of Pakistan Army for sensitive security duties in Rawalpindi to avoid any undesirable situation as well as to respond effectively in any unforeseen situation as per requirement of the district administration for a period of six months with immediate effect”.
