A mild earthquake of 5.5 magnitude jolted Islamabad and several districts of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Saturday around 12:30, prompting fear and panic among residents.
The earthquake measuring over 5.5 on the Richter scale struck central region of Pakistan, the quake’s epicentre was located near Hasan Abdaal – less than 60km from twin cities.

The tremors were felt in major cities including Attock, Mardan, Hasan Abdal, Peshawar, Nowshehra, Dir, Mehmandm Shabqadar, Swat, as well as their surrounding areas.
Residents in the affected regions reported a sudden shaking of buildings, but so far, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage. Authorities are currently monitoring the situation and assessing the extent of any potential impact.
Local emergency services and rescue teams remain on alert as authorities continue to assess any aftershocks or damages. More updates are expected as the situation develops.
