Austria(Bureau Reports) A 41-year-old man was sentenced to an unconditional three-year prison term at the Feldkirch regional court on Tuesday for sexual abuse. The defendant continues to the allegations that he has molested two neighboring girls. The judgment is not final. The court considered it proven that the man had assaulted two girls from the neighboring apartment several times in February and March of this year. The two families had been friends for some time, especially the children. The two girls, who are not yet 14 years old, were often guests of the neighboring family. The previously innocent worker is said to have taken advantage of the situation. If he was alone with one of the girls, he touched her genital area, according to the charges. More serious sexual assaults are also said to have taken place. Court believed the girls despite contradictions. After a full-day lay judge trial, the Senate sentenced the 41-year-old, who protested his innocence to the end, to three years in prison. In its presentation, the defense had pointed out the alleged contradictions in the girls’ statements, but the Senate believed the victims. They were awarded a total of 8,000 euros in compensation. The judgment is not final.
