ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rainfall in Punjab and Islamabad on Friday, while light drizzle is expected along Sindh’s coastal belt, including Karachi.
Heavy rains have also affected parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, where floodwaters have caused widespread disruption in Diamer district.
Areas including Niat Valley, Loshi, Babusar and Gais Bala have been impacted by flash floods triggered by intense rainfall.
The flooding has forced the closure of the Karakoram Highway at Gini, suspending traffic on the route. In Chitral, restoration work is continuing in the flood-affected union councils of Broz, Garam Chashma, Shasha and Gumbas Gol. Authorities have, however, reopened the Mastuj-Gilgit Road for light vehicles.
Meanwhile, Lahore is experiencing partly cloudy weather with cool winds making conditions pleasant. The Met Office has forecast rain in the city over the next 24 hours.
The current temperature in Lahore was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is likely to remain around 27 degrees Celsius.
Winds are blowing at 8 kilometres per hour, and humidity stands at 79%, according to the PMD.
