ISLAMABAD – Pakistani government raised petroleum products prices after increasing the petroleum levy on POLs, according to sources in the Petroleum Division.
The levy on petrol has been raised by Rs 26.77 per litre, pushing it to Rs 107.38 per litre. Previously, the levy stood at Rs80.61 per litre. Officials confirmed that while the petrol levy has been sharply increased, the levy on diesel remains unchanged at zero.
Finance Division issued revised notification for petroleum product prices, under which both petrol and diesel have become more expensive. Petrol prices have been increased by Rs 26.77 per litre, while diesel has also seen a similar hike of Rs 26.77 per litre.
New Petrol Price in Pakistan
As per the latest notification issued by the Petroleum Division, effective April 25, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 393.35 per litre, while high-speed diesel will now be sold at Rs 380.19 per litre.
The government provided some relief on kerosene oil, slashing its price by Rs 63.60 per litre. Following the reduction, kerosene will now cost Rs 365.21 per litre.
The latest revision comes against the backdrop of dramatic fluctuations in fuel pricing earlier this month. In early April, federal ministers had announced a massive increase, raising petrol by Rs 137.23 per litre and diesel by Rs 184.49 per litre.
Earlier this month, PM Shehbaz Sharif announced reduction in the petrol levy by Rs 80, after which the petrol price was adjusted to Rs 378 per litre, highlighting continued volatility in petroleum pricing and taxation policy.
