PESHAWAR – The annual Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results announced by Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar sparked widespread concern after nearly 10,000 students failed the compulsory Islamic Studies examination, making it the worst-performing subject in this year’s matric exams.
As per official figures, Islamic Studies seems to be most difficult paper for candidates across the 9th and 10th grade examinations, recording the highest number of failures among all subjects.
The results show that 97,950 students appeared in the Class 9 annual examinations, but only 57,847 students successfully qualified for promotion to Class 10, highlighting the challenges faced by a significant number of candidates.
The unexpectedly high failure rate in a compulsory subject has triggered concern among education experts, parents, and students, with many questioning whether the issue lies in the difficulty of the examination paper, teaching standards, assessment methods, or overall preparation.
Education specialists are expected to examine this year’s examination trends and evaluate the quality of instruction to determine the factors behind the unusually poor performance in Islamic Studies.
BISE Peshawar announced that it will release a comprehensive analytical report on students’ performance across all subjects in the coming days, which is expected to provide deeper insights into this year’s examination outcomes.
