MASTUNG – A roadside bomb blast on Quetta-Karachi Highway sent shockwaves through Balochistan’s Mastung district on Saturday, killing two Pakistani security personnel and leaving at least eight others injured.
The explosion took place in Goru area of Khadkocha, where explosive device planted along roadside detonated as security personnel were present in the area. The blast was followed by exchange of fire, according to sources, adding to tension at the scene. The injured personnel were immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
After the attack, authorities closed Quetta-Karachi Highway to traffic, disrupting movement on the key route linking the two major cities.
Helicopters were also dispatched to the site after the explosion as security teams moved to secure the area and assess the situation. The incident has raised fresh security concerns in the region, while no group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
